I have posted about this tulip many times. I finally finished it completely in January! Binding is done! It is the binding that I machine sewed on with the piping but it is done. Yippee!

Sophie's Purse - #21 January 2014
I dreamed up a purse to give to Keegan's friend for Christmas. It may have been easier to select a pattern and actually follow the pattern.
You may have also noticed that the purse is the January item for completed. That is because, per my usual strategy, I did not have the purse completed in time for Christmas. Sophie received the purse later in the month of January. Maybe I will do better next year.

Because I was not counting correctly, I created too many feather sections from the Feather Fancy wall hangings. I used them to spice up the front of the little pink purse. It worked.
Day Guild Exchange Blocks
I forgot to pick up the instructions for the exchange blocks at day guild in November so I had more to pick up in January. One of the instructions I picked up was not detailed enough with the colors so I will have to take a picture of the sample block at the February meeting so I can make the block.
These are the blocks I created in January to return at the February meeting:

I have started receiving brown strip sets back from my exchange request but I have not started cutting circles out of them yet. I have not done anything yet but put them in a nice pile so I know where they are when I do begin to work on them.
Modern Block Exchange
I signed up for the modern block exchange again this year through Four Winds Quilting. Just to keep my mind going, I didn't settle for just one group, I signed up for both modern block exchange groups. Nancy, the owner of the shop, did give me the option to drop out of one group in lat January but by that time, I had decided I wanted to participate in both groups.
This year there is an increase in rules. We must select the block we are going to request from the Modern Blocks book compiled by Susanne Woods. I am fine with that because the block creation instructions are in the book. Then the requester only needs to define colors and fabric type.

Happily, this month, all of the blocks were easy to complete. I had all 4 completed the day after I received the instructions.
