Blue Crumbs - #46 July

The Town & Country Quilt Guild July Challenge was a crumb challenge.  I created Blue Crumbs.

We exchanged crumbs at the January meeting of the Town & Country Quilt Guild.  We had months to finish our challenge quilt in time for the July picnic.  I do believe I put my crumb quilt off until the last minute.  Hate to change my wicked ways now :-)

The centers of each of the blocks is a polar fleece piece.  They were cut in ovals or rough circles.  I had been thinking of making an island and boats but by the last minute when I started working on this project, everything just ended up in a traditional square.

Spiral - #45 April

The WAV challenge for March was Contrast.  I created Spiral.

Of course, Spiral was not completely finished for the March WAV meeting.  Therefore it gets to be my April finish.

Leaves - #44 March

I finished Turning Over a New Leaf by Laura Heine for Regina R. in March.  I had received the fabric and pattern in May 2015.  I had been putting it off for a long time because I had never done trapunto before.  It did take a long time to do and it was terrifying to have scissors around the quilt top.  But, it is finally done.

I had to go into Fiberworks a number of times to look at the original quilt by Laura Heine.  I wanted to get it right.  One of the ladies at Fiberworks told me that it was ok to put some of my own personality into the quilt.  I didn't know if that was ok since it is for someone else.  After giving the quilt to the actual owner, she made me feel better.

Now I have to work on In My Garden by Laura Heine for Regina R.  It has a lot of small pieces.  It is going to be even more stressful to do the trapunto.  I need to get it done.

Fat Quarter Pop Up

At Featherweight Friday in March, we did the Fat Quarter Pop Up by the Fat Quarter Gypsy, LLC.

It is very cool - it has a spring in it so you can compress it to plate size or it pops up - hence the name.

YVQG Row by Row

I had created hearts from 1 1/2" squares a long time ago.  I had also cut up pieces to create even more hearts but didn't get around to finishing a quilt of the hearts.  I took the hearts that were done and used them as the starting point for my 2016 YVQG Row by Row.

While I was making the row, I thought that I should finish some of the other hearts so I could add them to the final Row by Row project.  We are months and months into the Row by Row exchange and I have not yet created any more hearts even though all of the fabric is cut out.  Imagine that.

YVQG Row by Row

The Row by Row from Nancy Herington was very specific - cut out the pattern she designed and applique the pieces on the background.  Do not stitch around the pieces.  Just do what is in your bag.  Easy.  I completed that task the same day that Leslie gave it to me.

Nancy is calling her quilt How to Build a Snowman.  It will be super cute when it is done.

YVQG Round Robin
