Friendship Quilt - #23 March

I participated in a friendship block exchange quilt.  Most of the twelve ladies that participated were from Laurel.  The project is headed by Sue W.  They did an exchange last year but I did not participate because I did not think I would be able to actually get any sewing done with the boys so young.  Luckily, for me, they kicked one of their "friends" out of the exchange and allowed me to be in the exchange this year.

We used the Midnight Posies pattern by Morning Glory Quilt Designs.  I did one of the tulip blocks for the exchange.  I did the block in the suggested colors.  I also did the block in oranges and yellows.  I let the "friends" select which block they wanted.

The pattern suggests applique flowers around the border.  Instead of appliqueing flowers, I thread painted flowers into the border.  Thread painting is really dense.  It make my borders wave a bit.  Not as bad as I had anticipated, but the borders still wave.  I did try to do background quilting that was more dense than normal but it was not even close to thread painting density.

I did thread fusion on the blocks in orange thread.

The photo above is the quilt hanging at Trackside Quilting during the Friendship quilt show.
